Review: 16 Lighthouse Road

16 Lighthouse Road
16 Lighthouse Road by Debbie Macomber
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

I just finished my semester of college, and all my required text book reading. I was feeling like I needed and wanted something light-hearted and maybe a little bit cheesy. I admit it, I love being cheesy! I openingly fantasize about the love I someday hope to really have, so I do enjoy romances from time to time. I have to believe for myself that crazy love is real! I know I’ve experienced it – when I don’t downplay it and be honest with myself. For this I’m incredibly grateful! I also have horrible romantic experiences that I’m also grateful for because they make me appreciate the great. But often times I feel like I loose faith and hope in finding crazy real love again. That’s why I enjoy these ‘fluffy’ books. Now, I’m also a realist and completely realize that not all of life is like this, and we are one of the few lucky ones if we but just a moment or two of these moments and memories!
However, that being said – This book needed work! At the beginning of this book, I felt like I have read one of Debbie Macomber’s books before, however cannot find any record of such. I do not know if this is one of Ms. Macomber’s first books – but her writing style indicated so. It was frustrating most the time. Now as far as clean level of romance. It was clean, there was mostly romantic feelings, but only one scene that was tastefully done. It was as if it had been written with a middle/high school student mentality and reality view of life. In addition, there were so many characters, that seemingly didn’t completely tie together. They all went off in different directions. I understand that the Judge was the central character, and the supporting characters were her children and their relationships, her best friend and her relationships and the life and happenings of a couple that had passed through her courtroom, in addition to the judges mother, and the judges love interest, oh and don’t forget her ex-husband. All these stories went in a million directions and never seemingly came back to tie together with a climax or a resolution! The dialog was a completely un-realistic and it was hard to not gag most the time with these ‘really, are you kidding me situations.’ I finished the book but I doubt that I would ever read one of her’s again. I might, if this was among her first books. I might read a later one and give her another chance. But if looking for a good light-hearted fluffy, feel good story mixed with romance that just leaves you grinning and warm on the inside … keep looking!

Review: The Legal and Ethical Environment of Business

The Legal and Ethical Environment of Business
The Legal and Ethical Environment of Business by Terence Lau
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Really fascinating! Again, I’m grateful that the books I’m required to read for my degree are actually interesting. I continually find myself putting down the other books I’m reading or listening to so that I can go back to these. They are easy to understand, very logical and straight forward. The wording is strangely captivating as well as their application stories. The books are concise and do not ramble on saying the same thing over and over. They teach you what you need to know, in a manner that sticks and moves on. Highly recommend for all.

How grateful that my required reading for my degree is actually interesting! It was an easy text book read and most informative! I wish I would have had access to this a few months ago before I started learning about business insurances and shopping for the company I work for! Great help. If you are searching for Business Insurance start here, it will give you a great basis and help you not feel and sound like an idiot.

Review: The Ensign – March 2013

The Ensign - March 2013
The Ensign – March 2013 by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ok, I know I haven’t been fantastic at staying on top of reading the Ensign every month for the past few months. I have defiantly felt the lack of it’s influence in my life, and on my spirit. I’m grateful I listened to the prompting to start reading it again this month! At this moment I’m committing once again to read the Ensign each month for the rest of this year and go back and read the first two issues. This really was a fantastic issue and deeply touched my spirit and uplifted my heart. It felt that almost each article once again had been written just for me! I love how that works! :) It makes me feel that maybe I’m not completely alone in the world with my struggles and trials, and let’s be honest – mental issues at times! Great Ensign! I highly recommend! It also helped to encourage me and really kinda slap me upside my head on subjects that I’ve been slacking on or other areas in my life where I need improvement… and that improvement is easy! I just have to do it! I know I can, and I know that God will bless me for doing so! I fully know that life isn’t always peaches and cream if we just follow the commandments… but I know that God does bless us in those tiny but significate daily tender mercies! Those tender mercies are what strengthen and keep us encouraged as we face trials and tribulations they are what help make it through and so that they are mere, and it came to pass moments, and not thus came the downfall of Jennifer…

Review: Mere Christianity

Mere Christianity
Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Yet another CS Lewis I really enjoyed! I really enjoyed how deep he delved into subjects, very controversial subjects! I kept wanting to take experts from the book and just give that as my reply to certain subjects that are current hot topics in the world. Highly recommend to all! Even if you are not Christian, it gave some great insights, and more ammo for me in other areas. ;)

Topics I book marked:
Theology on desires – healthy & unhealthy; Lifestyles; Appetites w/ Food & Sex; Marriage; Charity; Faith; How Christ molds us; Hope; Faith; and more. Great read!

Yeah, I’m finished with this. I normally like Orson Scott Card, I didn’t read what this was about, before starting. If I had realized it was a bunch of short scary/mentally messing with you stories I would have not started it. I had insane dreams last night! I’m good. I think the ones I read will give me enough psychotic nightmares to last me a lifetime.

2012 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The new Boeing 787 Dreamliner can carry about 250 passengers. This blog was viewed about 1,200 times in 2012. If it were a Dreamliner, it would take about 5 trips to carry that many people.

Front Runner

Day one of riding the front runner (commuting train) has been good! Nice ready ride no frustration with driving and nice people. Its super quiet not that I’m surprised, the people here don’t like to even say hi or acknowledge anyone else exists. The train its self is much much quieter than Philly trains too. Sounds more like a smart car than anything. Lol however their wifi leaves much to be desired. Good thing I figured out how to use my phone as a hot spot this morning! :) now to go just a few more stops (NO TRANSFERS!) And enjoy my brisk 3 block walk to my office! :)

Review: The Memory of Earth

The Memory of Earth
The Memory of Earth by Orson Scott Card
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I have very mixed feelings on this particular book. I really enjoy Orson Scott Card and was excited about reading this one. I was really needing a book with some more thought provoking points – this was a great one for that matter!

It’s a Science Fiction (which I also love) set in the future, when the Human Race has destroyed Earth and moved to another planet named Harmony. Most of the book sets up the scene, the people, the planet, the culture, the religions, etc. It was fascinating to read about. I enjoyed much of the religious overtones and similes through the first 75%+ part of the book. Granted, some of it was VERY weird, but over all I liked it. I thought that it flowed well and that the story and all details connected and made sense, and really brought things to my mind about our own cultures here on Earth.

It finally gets to the point of this whole story, in the last 15% of the book, not just setting the stage and it was the first few chapters of Nephi, from the Book of Mormon. There were not many variances from the story of Lehi and his family. At this point I lost a lot of interest, and some respect honestly. I didn’t like how he literally played it out detail by detail identically to the things that happened with Lehi’s Family! Which took away any suspense, of how is this going to end… Even Nephi’s name was used in Card’s book (I listened to it) but the main character’s name is Nefi! Really? Have we lost all creativity here? Obviously I got hung up on it feeling like plagiarism.

Nonetheless, I’ve always loved this story (in it’s original telling) it was very interesting to see how Card made these defining moments fit into his story board. It brought many things to the surface in a different light than I have ever looked at.

I think that the things that stuck out to me most was that the Oversoul’s purpose was to help mankind over come itself to finally develop the greatness that we inherently could have if we but tried a little harder. But that no matter what time or place we continue to make the regular trip through the pride cycle. Another big point was the difference Nefi’s out look was on everything once he knew the Oversoul’s purpose and goals and how he played a part it in. Little things, fights with his brothers, how he approached things he was asked to do, how he choose to treat people – all of it changed, because he could see more of the big picture and where he fit and learned more of the things that really matter.

Overall I did like it. I know there is a lot more seeing that he barely broke into the first few chapters of 1 Nephi. I worry though that I would struggle, because I would already know what big thing was really going to happen next.

In addition, I really like the fact that Card has been able to share basic gospel principals in more of a secular manner and able to reach out to more people. Go ahead and read it, if nothing else it includes some great physiologic and sociological discussion points.

Review: Lean Mean Thirteen

Lean Mean Thirteen
Lean Mean Thirteen by Janet Evanovich
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Well Stephanie has once again provided much laughter, crazy scenarios and good old Mid-Atlantic culture and humor. :)

Although, I found a lot of disconnects in this one… :( For instance, in book 12 we were left off with Stephanie working for Ranger, here she’s a Bounty Hunter again and there was no explanation of her transition. As well as a few others. It was annoying, but not hard to figure out. Another couple of things. She’s started referring to Ranger by his name Carlos Mendoza (I think that’s his name – I just translate in my head to “Ranger”) and all of a sudden she magically got over her issue and fear of saying “I Love You” to Morelli – without that momentous moment, and now continues to tell him regularly…

Other than that, I of course love Stephanie Plum and enjoy our adventures together. :) On to 14…

Christmas Magic & The Festival of Trees

I love Christmas! I love the season, the smells, the feel of everything, the taste in the air and the energy all around! For years I have dreamed of having that perfect storybook Christmas, my family never had that. Oh we had our own type of Christmas Magic, but never what I knew was waiting out there…. somewhere.

I grew up all over the US, my dad works for the Federal Government in the Bureau of Land Management. Therefore, we lived in every small podunk town known to mankind. Ok, not really, but it sure felt like it! I ended up going to 11 different schools by the time that I graduated from high school, so I’ve been around. We never lived close to our extended family and we always just celebrated our quiet little immediate family holidays by ourselves. Which I ultimately grew to appreciate VERY much! After college, I ended up moving back East, New York City, Vermont & then was in the Philadelphia suburbs for nearly a decade. (While on that subject I think the state of Pennsylvania simply has something incredibly magic about it – but especially during Thanksgiving to Christmas to the New Year!) Which again put me far away from extended and immediate family. As I’d always done, I adopted new family(ies). This also comes with invitations to spend holidays with other families and get a glimpse into other people’s worlds and traditions. From this I have gleamed some of the best ‘magic’ I have witnessed, and implementing their traditions and magic into my own traditions – and hoping that someday when I have a family of my own I’ll be able to continue to add to that great Christmas Magic!

However, here I find myself close to family once again and some holidays are celebrated, while most are not. If they are celebrated it’s generally because I’m hosting the whole shebang. Most the time though, I find myself ignoring the things about the holiday’s that I love so very much – in order not to be once again heart-broken. I stopped putting up decorations, I don’t want to cook my big fabulous meals, and I look forward to the quiet day off with no one bugging me, no phone calls or texts beyond Happy whatever holiday! It breaks my heart knowing this. I even do it for my own birthday anymore (I’m a Christmas week baby) no one cares, no one will come and if they do, they do stupid stuff that makes me wish I never attempted to throw myself a party in the first place. :( This I know all stems from the years of heartache and let downs of having hopes so high that just maybe this year might be a fraction better. In addition in all likeliness its that awful voice of my ex-husband telling me everything was horrible because of me, and my wanting each moment to be great – even if it’s horrible – I continue to believe that there can be goodness found in all things even if it’s just a micro or nano thing… Of course I find myself just wanting to take myself on some fabulous vacation that I can’t afford; far away from everyone and everything…. and it’s warm of course!

Despite my jaded view on this subject, there are a few things that bring me such great joy!

I have been an Auction Host at the Festival of Trees now for 3 years! It’s hard to believe I’ve even been around here that long! I was first introduced to the Festival of Trees from my girlfriend, Andrea. (Andrea’s Main Blog & Andrea’s Second Blog – Things you will not believe!! Regarding the Health of her Children)  These are amazing stories that you need to read!) The Festival of Trees  is a fabulous non-profit organization that donates 100% of their proceeds back to the children at Primary Children’s Hospital. Each year the first week after Thanksgiving they hold a gigantic auction at the South Towne Expo Center. People and organizations donate their time, talent and resources to providing a fabulous environment and things to auction. You can find Large Trees, Medium Trees, Small Trees, Centerpieces, General Decorations, Wreaths, Quilts, Statues/Sculptures, Paintings,

Photography, not to mention all the baked goods and other gifts that you can purchase there and MUCH more! It’s quiet the experience  Auction night is always quite elite and has a formal attire dress code. Andrea & I are Auction Hosts for whatever section we might be assigned to each year answering questions and facilitating the silent auctions in our area. What fun this is! Not only do we get to dress up in our beautiful formals, but we also get to make new friends, meet interesting people and serve! What energy fills the air here! In this one place my Christmas Magic has returned and ignited such a fire of hope and joy all around! I’m so grateful that Andrea invited me three years ago! This

is truly one of my most favorite events of the year! I’m so glad that my little effort actually makes a difference in someones life! It’s amazing to see what some of these items go for – and it’s all really for the children!

So whatever it might be that you love about the Christmas Season… I hope you find it this year. I hope you grab onto it and hold it tight. Find people around you in every capacity that you can serve in either the littlest of ways – most people are so in need of a genuine smile and a hello, or in big ways – but do it just because.

May you be blessed with the Love of our Lord and remember exactly WHY we have Christmas after all… because someone gave us the greatest of all gifts!

I’ll post a few photos from our night. :) Later when I am working on a better computer… ;)

Review: A Grief Observed

A Grief Observed
A Grief Observed by C.S. Lewis
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I thought that this writing was very interesting. This was originally just his ‘Grief Journal’ during the mourning of his beloved wife. It was interesting getting a deeper look into CS Lewis himself. I know how I have gone through the stages of grief, it was interesting to see the similarities and the differences alike between he and I. I think it’s a great book for anyone who has faced some grief in their life, especially the death of a spouse. Or even a divorce, for I feel divorce is very similar to the death of a spouse. For in each you must grieve the death of the relationship and love. Great read. Highly Recommend.

The Christmas Sweater
The Christmas Sweater by Glenn Beck
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Honestly, I loved it! I know some have complained about the lack of elegance of Glenn Beck’s writing. Seriously, who cares!? It’s consistent, the story flows, and it teaches you something as it penetrates your heart. So what that he embellished his real story. We are to write about what we know. In addition he lets on to no pretense that it’s 100% real from the beginning.

Really, I loved the book. It was a quick and very easy read. I found my self engaged and wanting more. He kept you wrapped in his story, waiting on edge to see what it was that turned around his attitude. Yet, being so surprised at times you go from laughing to crying in a mere instant! I loved it. It’s a short sweet read, the style reminds me of Richard Paul Evans.

Some experts from the book that touched my heart…

“The real question is, Who Are you? Somehow I understood. Without the storm I would never know myself. Does everyone have go through the storm? Yeah, sooner or later. But no one has never been lost to the storm, just lost in the storm. What most people don’t realize is they don’t have to fight the storm, you just need to stop feeding it, stop giving it power over you.”

“Will there be other storms?
What if I’m afraid?
I’ll be with you. Remember no one has ever regretted the journey. No one has ever stood here and wished they could go back to the other side. Do you know who you are now?”

“Trust that we are worthy to make it through our storms.”

“Maybe we are supposed to only see a hint of the answer and figure the rest out on our own using faith. It is the understanding that you can be forgiven & start over that you can face your greatest fear & regret, the sky will open up and you will find happiness and love. It is the key to breaking the chain of regret & misery. The greatest gift was given all of us by a loving Father in heaven.”

“My mom gave me my sweater. But, the greatest gift was given all of us by a heavenly father it is the only true gift ever given to all but never opened or only appreciated by few. It is the gift of redemption the gift of atonement and it sits on the top shelf of the closets of our souls. Christmas is about what that infant boy did at the end of his mortality. Without his death, his birth is meaningless.”

“The greatest gift is any gift that was given with love. I remember realizing all she had done for that gift.
I refuse to stand at his feet and see Him with the same look in His eyes as he asks “Son, is that the gift that I gave you?” Pick up your gift of redemption and allow it to transform your lives.”

Wow! Again what a fabulous book! Ultimately teaching you such a valuable and surprising lesson about the atonement and redemption. How do you suppose our Father in Heaven and Savior Jesus Christ feel when we leave their un-opened gifts crumpled up in the corner untouched, unused, unappreciated?

Review: Deception Point

Deception Point
Deception Point by Dan Brown
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Honestly, I enjoy Dan Brown. I think he has such a great talent for making us think outside of the box. I was reading right before the election this year. It was so interesting seeing the debates currently between Obama and Romney vs the characters in this book. I thought the twists and turns were fabulous. As always with Mr. Brown I didn’t see most of it coming. I love how he keeps me on my toes always and it always feels like a short fast read. However, this was not my favorite book of all of his. But good. I did enjoy it. I thought that he did a fabulous job teaching lessons of having principles and values and taking the moment to do the best jobs we can and really pay attention to the details around us and that things might not be as they appear.

Review: Lady Susan

Lady Susan
Lady Susan by Jane Austen
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

I am SO grateful this book was so short!! It was dreadful! Now it is no secret that I am not a Jane Austen fan. I don’t understand remotely why so many women in the world think she is the best ever. I don’t like the books and I don’t like the movies either. Now, that being said, I have not attempted one of her books or movies for many many years. I came across this one in my path at the library and thought I’d give Jane Austen another chance hoping that maybe my life perspective had altered and I might get what all the fuss was about seeing how it wasn’t a main stream of her works and one I was not familiar with. Well at this point my opinion of Ms. Austen is set in stone.

I HATED this book! I couldn’t stand the characters or the plot. It goes on my list along with “Gone With The Wind“. In fact I think that the Lady Susan, her sister-in-law and Scarlett O’Hara could all be great friends, or as close as any would actually be capable of having. Full of conniving, manipulating and gossiping women. Who have nothing better in life than to bicker, talk behind the backs of others and backstabbing. No wonder some men have so much negativity about some of the women in this world! Because so many women find Jane Austen so wonderful! But that’s all I could ever see in any of her other books.

Review: Your Happily Ever After

Elder Dieter F Uchtdorf Mormon

Your Happily Ever After
Your Happily Ever After by Dieter F. Uchtdorf
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

First off, Dieter F. Uchtdorf is one of my favorite people in the world! I love his stories, his character, and view on life.

Last spring, I was in a production called “Happily Forever After”. In the show we had a young girl trying to do her homework and had to write a paper about how Fairy Tales had impacted her life or something to the sort. Her attitude is negative and jaded, as many of us have become in this harsh world that we live in. When her fairy Godmother shows up and turns her perspective around. Teaching her of the valuable lessons that we can all take from Fairy Tales.

From this production I received this wonderful book as a thank you for my participation. What a wonderful treat to have my lesson extended by Elder Uchtdoft as he takes a similar path of teaching.

He goes on to explain how we learn to love the Heroines and Heroes with their strength of character. But that they didn’t become heroes by living perfect lives, but by going through trials and tribulations, facing their fears and giants. That their stories became great stories because of the challenges they faced and how the fought and strove to be valiant in all that they faced, whether big or small.

“Sandwiched between their ‘once upon a time’ and ‘happily ever after,’ they all had to experience great adversity. Why must all experience sadness and tragedy? Why could we not simply live in bliss and peace, each day filled with wonder, joy and love?

“… there must be opposition in all things, for without it we could not discern the sweet from the bitter. Would the marathon runner feel the triumph of finishing the race had she not felt the pain of the hours of pushing against her limits? Would the pianist feel the joy of mastering an intricate sonata without the painstaking hours of practice?

“Adversity helps to develop a depth of character that comes in no other way. Our loving Heavenly Father has set us in a world filled with challenges and trials so that we, through opposition, can learn wisdom, become stronger, and experience joy.”

Again, fabulous read!!! I only shared one little piece of course, it’s well worth reading the rest! It was a quick and easy read that I finished in one setting. Great to read weakly really – keep things in perspective. ;) Highly recommend to EVERYONE! Enjoy! :)

“In stories, as in life, adversity teaches us things we cannot learn otherwise.”

Review: Full Tilt

Full Tilt
Full Tilt by Janet Evanovich
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I probably wouldn’t have read this as part of the continuing Full Series, if it hadn’t been for a couple things:
1) If I hadn’t already been on a quest to read all of Janet’s books
2) If my Aunt hadn’t told me how much she loved this series.

That being said, I also think I actually read this one once before about 5 or 6 years ago. As a random book that I found at the library before I really ‘discovered’ Janet Evanovich.

This book was MUCH better than the first book of the series!! MUCH!! You can tell how much Janet’s skills had developed over the years in-between the first and second book. I’m glad that I continued on with this series. It provided more smiles and giggles and something other than Bounty Hunting. I do like the path that she takes with this series as well. Although I complained that the first book was very corny I missed the presence of the two original characters in the first book. There were also some major disconnects and inconsistencies in the details. That was annoying, but I soon got over it (had to lol). Oh another thing, I didn’t like the whole two men scenario… My ex-husband had fidelity issues and so I tend to be sensitive to such things. Overall good book, fun and I’m excited for #3.

Review: Full House

Full House
Full House by Janet Evanovich
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Hmmm. I’m a huge fan of Janet Evanovich. I’m currently working my way through her entire collection. Honestly, my favorites are the pre-Plums, which I noticed this was originally a pre-Plum, which is probably why I was semi-disappointed. In this particular story she continues with her predictable formula (which I like – it is simple I can listen while I work and it provides me with great laughter). I found this particular story too ‘convenient’ I enjoyed the characters and thought they were well developed but the story line and romance moved at an unrealistic timeline and speed. In addition it was on the super-corny side of things I had a difficult time swallowing things. In addition there where multiple disconnects and a few conflicting scenes. Overall I still liked it and enjoyed it. It also seems that this was close to the very first of the books that she wrote. It’s been fun to see how her writing has improved, developed and flourished through the years. :)

Review: The Screwtape Letters

The Screwtape Letters
The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I thought this book was very interesting. I am a huge fan of CS Lewis to start with. Needless to say I think that Mr. Lewis put things in a very interesting perspective here. Sometimes I personally think that the “War in Heaven” between God and his Angels and Satan and his dominion is still raging every day. We see it in all that we do in all that we strive for and all that we believe in. In all aspects of world and personal history we see the for eternal battle between good and evil. Satan’s true goal in the eternities is to make us fall, and drag us down within the depths of our own personal Hell. Some of us give into it, and some of us will continue to fight and fight. One of my favorite songs is “If You Are Going Thru Hell” by Rodney Atkins. The song basically relates that no matter how bad life gets, if you find yourselves in the depths of despair just keep on going, keep moving and eventually life will work its self out and don’t let the Devil get his claws in you. The things that Satan likes to put in our lives generally backfire, helping us develop stronger wills, courage and strength – no matter how deep the tribulations. I think this book goes right along with it. A how to book teaching Satan’s Minion are to drag each of us down, keep us away from God, confuse our minds, and our paths, ultimately bringing us further away from our divine natures. This objective view gives us a look and heads a warning and in truth ammunition and inside knowledge of fighting our own battle against the enemy and how to come off victorious. I think that everyone needs to read this book! My father has been recommending it to me for 15 years. I’m a bit stubborn. I wish I would have heeded his suggestion years ago. I also think this is one that we need to read every year or so and bring things again into perspective. Go win your personal battle today!

Snowcation

No church!  I’ve received multiple messages saying that the stake pres just called and cancelled. telling everyone to stay home and be safe.

image

I love church, but kinda excited! Answers to prayers really! I’ve needed some serious downtime to just spend at home and be 100% non-social and just take care of myself and my home.

image

How grateful I am! I got a snow day from work on Friday, played hookey from everything on Saturday, and now a snow day from church on Sunday!

image

Man, I feel like I’m in Pennsylvania with everything shutting down because of snow! Lol But then again yesterday my uncle said we had about 16″ of snow, and that was before we really got hit!

And its still snowing! Happy day! Honestly, its a but strange but this year I’m loving the snow!  :)

Winter Wonderland

What a beautiful morning here today! We have been in the middle of a blizzard for two days now. My favorite part of winter is the overwhelming desire to cuddle up in your favorite blanket, a movie, a book out best of all a loved one.

image

Yesterday, I was blessed with a paid day off work because of the blizzard. It was much needed. I was able to do some chores and just do some of the things on my need to do list. Nonetheless, there is still much to do. This morning I am so grateful for the time to my self to just attempt to relax and watch a movie. This has always been difficult for me. I can’t just sit. But I tried hard this morning! My computer is still not working (remember the honey infested keys), and I couldn’t figure out a project I could work on in the living room. No wonder I listen to books while doing chores & projects! Lol

image

Also yesterday, when I turned on the radio for some music I was surprised that they were playing straight Christmas Music! However, it really is starting to look a lot like Christmas! Here are a few pictures of my area. It certainly isn’t as beautiful as my old home in Pennsylvania (200 year old farm home on 3 1/2 acres, in the middle if the forrest on a lake), yet out is still beautiful! In these pictures you can’t see the mountains due to the storm still hovering. I’ll post a picture of the snow capped mountains later. So far we have received 16″ in my township, but only 6″ or so at my home.

image

I’ve never been a fan of pine trees, long explanation, and after the windstorm from last year that made national news that took down nearly every pine tree in the south end if the county, (I’ll give you the story and pictures later) I like then even less. Yet, as I saw these two, I had to stop and admire God’s eye and talent for creating this beauty, of the snow.covered pine trees. :)

Please excuse any typos. This was typed on my phone. I will make corrections when I again obtain computer access.

Review: The Grand Finale

The Grand Finale
The Grand Finale by Janet Evanovich
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

At this point we all know I love Janet Evanovich. This was again one of her pre-Plum romances. Honestly, I love them the most! They are all somewhat similar, and of course have formulas. But I don’t care. They are cute, witty, crazy little circumstances, always with a fun main character, sometimes ditsy, this one (Berri) wasn’t, and have a hunk of a man for them, with crazy supporting characters. You can definitely see the development of Stephanie Plum‘s character and story line, and supporting characters throughout these. It’s been fun to watch the development really. This was well written, there were a few disconnects though. In addition to a few times where you can see Janet started foreshadowing somethings and then changed her mind or forgot about them. I didn’t like how it ended. It was ok, but I wasn’t ready for this story to end and thought it could have had a stronger closing, this one just kind of left me hanging and saying, “Really? That was it!?”
I really found myself identifying with Berri, recently divorced from an un-loving, un-supporting, roommate type spouse and having to find her direction in life again. While Berri didn’t know where she was going or what she was doing before; I had. My difference was having to redirect my entire career, not just find one. Both she and I are working our tail ends off burning the candle at both ends and going to school (well I’m starting). All the while we still find all these opportunities to serve just because or part of our everyday actions even though we feel like we are going to burn out at any second. One thing that I noticed with Berri & Jake and the “Little Old Ladies” aka the supporting characters is that each of them were able to find love again, and relax about it! All of the love that they found actually came very quickly and easily. This is hard for me, I live in a society where everyone meets, dates, engaged and married within 3 months. I have a hard time believing that a healthy foundation can really be built in that time frame, or that you can even remotely know the person. Most of the hold back and difficulties in Berri & Jake’s relationship & romance came from Berri herself resisting it and trying not to allow love in her life, or anyone really close enough to her to throw her off her “Plan”. Sometimes life doesn’t work out the way we plan, but we have to remember that God always has a “Better Plan” for us, better than we can ever imagine, we just have to be willing to let his hand guide our lives….. in all things.

Inca Gold by Clive Cussler
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I definitely liked it. I think I somehow ended up with an abridged version…. There were some disconnects and I had to go back and re-read a few things. These are my FAVORITE types of books for sure, action, adventure, peril, good vs evil, folklore and legends, etc. The disconnects were hard for me, it kept breaking my gravitational pull into finishing this book. But I still really enjoyed it. I wish however, that there had been more details. Details of the legends, of the landscapes, of the people, of the caverns of the treasure, etc. It would have made the story more compelling. Regardless good read.

Honestly, this was NOT my favorite book. I barely made it through. I was bored out of my mind thru the entire book. The only reason that I finished it was because it was a book club read. It moved slow and jumped around. Lots of inconsistencies and disconnects. It also had a very ‘uppity’ and ‘holier than though’ type feel thru the whole book. I don’t recommend.

This was a breath of fresh air! I was so grateful to read another Stephanie Plum after reading a really long and heavy book! I enjoyed also that this Plum book had a much different plot than the others, I was also needing a change up. It was funny. It never ceases to amaze me how much Janet makes me laugh consistently! :)

I know it’s late in the day for this… but out of all of the photos I have seen today, this one touched me the most (and was the first one I saw) May we truly never forget our friends and family that died… and what this country was founded upon. May God Bless All – Everyday. And may we always remember the hand he plays in our lives, sometimes saving our lives, our hearts, our minds, or even just our feet from stepping in something. The Swan Thieves by Elizabeth Kostova
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Honestly, I was EXTREMELY disappointed. Elizabeth’s first book, The Historian was one of my favorite books I’ve ever read. Thus, I was elated to read this one. I chose it for my book club (http://www.bountifulbookclub.blogspot.com/), thinking I couldn’t go wrong with a book by Elizabeth. It was my first time choosing a book for this club and I wanted to make a good impression. However, I’m mostly mortified. :| The Historian took me on this crazy wild ride, that has stuck with me and lines and scenes from it randomly pop in my head. Alas, The Swan Thieves, just goes on and on. I felt like she took the entire book to tell the ‘back story‘ and I just kept waiting for the plot to start. The last 15% of the book was the most interesting and what could and would have been the most exciting part if she would have elaborated upon it just a fraction of what she spent on the first 85% of the book. Elizabeth of course kept her characters consistent and did amazing amounts of research. In addition it was very interesting to learn more of what it’s like to be an artist and a bit of a psychiatrist. Her writing style is beautiful. Still this book was very long winded and mostly I just couldn’t wait to finish it and be done. Also with the last 15% it felt as if she realized she was behind on her time schedule to finish the book and rushed to a conclusion that left MUCH to be desired. I kept hoping that the resolution would at least justify the long back story, lack of a climax, etc. It didn’t. :| I did find myself getting anxious and questioning more about the paintings that had been talked about and described. I found myself going online and researching the paintings, painters, etc. Printing them out and placing them myself inside the book for future references. It would have been a nice appendix type addition to the printing to have included a few of them… Because it just left you wanting to see them… a picture after all is worth 1,000 words. I will of course continue to give Ms. Kostova a chance again with future writings, and pray that they are more similar in style to the Historian.

Oh one other thing it taught me was to make sure I never end up with an artist of that magnitude for a spouse. lol I did like a few lines and things that it taught as well. My favorite was when Marlow was speaking with his Father, who said paraphrasing, “Marlow, you just need to find someone who completes your thoughts and sentences, and when you do, you simply look them in the eye and say, “My Dear, it appears to me that your heart has been broken. Will you allow me to heal it for you?”

Another favorite passage was, “People whose marriages haven’t collapsed, or whose spouses die instead of leaving, don’t know that marriages that end seldom have a single ending. Marriages are like certain books, a story where you turn the the last page and you think it’s over, and then there’s an epilogue, and after that your’e inclined to go on wondering about the characters or imagining that their lives continue without you, dear reader. Until you forget most of that book, you’re stuck puzzling over what happened to them after you closed it.”

Review: The Historian

The Historian
The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh my goodness I absolutely LOVED this book!!!!! Very well researched, written and believable! I was quite shocked at the end of the first chapter to see what this book was REALLY about, and I remained in constant, ‘are you kidding me’ state the rest of the book. Constantly on the edge of my seat and completely obsessed through the last page. I really really hope that there will be another book continuing from here, it felt like it could continue on… I certainly do not want to give any spoilers… So I will leave this at – this is definitely a journey you need to take – your perspective will change forever and this book will go to the very top of your favorites list. Ms. Kostova did an amazing job with her research, her details, story and characters. She will not disappoint. :)

Wow!!! Simply one of the best books I have ever read! Very well written. Absolutely Heartbreaking and Encouraging all at the same time! You will find your self questioning the characters actions and reflecting upon your own decisions in life. Really shows the impact that one seemingly small decision can make on your life and the lives of those around you. Also shows how lies and deceptions will literally eat you from the inside out, and how showing a little love will change it around. I work with Special Needs Kids (12-100 years old) it is the most amazing blessing in my life, how incredibly grateful I am for it. This fact alone and how much I love our sweet friends with special needs might have been a factor of why I feel so strongly about this book. But I honestly believe that EVERY individual in the world needs to read this book, gain a greater understanding of somethings – but ultimately take a look inward. This book, the words, the events, the people will change your life and never leave your heart or mind. It is definitely one of those books that you will randomly think of in random places and change your life for the better. More than highly recommend!

In addition…. One of the biggest things to me was to watch how Caroline fights and fights for her daughter! Yes, all mothers do, however watching her refuse to give Phoebe to the ‘institution’ and to get people to treat them both with respect to fighting the school systems to get her daughter enrolled and helping her daughter get the best available future and life for herself… from education, to some sort of work to having a place in the community! It really gave me so much more of an understanding and respect for the mothers of my wonderful

Down Syndrome Foundation

Group who are very Tough and are still fighting for their children to still have a chance. What a tough situation and battle. But look at the difference that this made in the world! We have come such a long way and by having these sweet and wonderful souls around us more each day – we become a little better learning how simple and true the small and simple things are in life.

I also enjoyed that the author told the story from the views of all the main characters… By doing this she was able to tell so much more of what was really going on and how the lies, deceit and continued miss-communication can turn wonderful lives and situations into pure tragedies.

Wonderful, wonderful book!

Review: Amish Grace: How Forgiveness Transcended Tragedy

Amish Grace: How Forgiveness Transcended Tragedy
Amish Grace: How Forgiveness Transcended Tragedy by Donald B. Kraybill
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow! What a great book! I feel that the authors did a great job researching the subject, the interviews and base knowledge greatly added to to understanding of the Amish people and their belief systems and ultimately more of who they are. I actually love books about the Amish. I used to live within 45 minutes of Lancaster and have always been amazed at these wonderful people. In addition I think that they authors did a fabulous job compiling all the research, and interviews together. The book flowed very well and kept me engaged, yearning to read just a little longer and when I finished with the strengthened desire to improve my own weaknesses and let go of things.

I started this a few months ago, then life got so busy I wasn’t able to finish it by the time it expired. By the time that I received it again from the library hold it was only a few days before the Aurora, Colorado Shooting at the Premier of the Batman movie. What a surreal moment it was finding out about the devistation in Colorado. I had already been reliving the horror of the 2006 Amish Masacre near my home. I remember thinking back then thoughts like, “Are you kidding me?” “Who would ever want to hurt any of the sweet Amish that wouldn’t even hurt a bug?! Let alone 10 harmless little girls!” “Wow, if that can happen there – none of us have an ounce of safety.” It was amazing to see my exact thoughts echoed in the book. That Friday morning when Aurora was announced (I saw it on Facebook – I generally don’t watch the news). I remember thinking is this a joke because I’m reading this book? What horrible events.

It was amazing to see the different responses though Lancaster vs Aurora. In Lancaster it was an outpouring of outrage, but also love and forgiveness… In Aurora it was outrage again, but this time mixed in with hatred and vengenouce. Of course anyone who commits this sort of horendous act is obviously very mentally ill (that should never really be a plea…) they would have to be mentally ill to even conceive of such actions. Of course justice needs to be met. But all the hatred, vengence, retaliation, etc. Isn’t healthy for anyone. The person that commits these acts don’t care, in fact they kind of get off on it. Those feelings merely eat the person/people feeling it from the inside out creating worse situations down the road. My point is, when these horrid things happen, or even smaller every day actions. How are we responding to them? How are we chosing to be? When we look in the mirror at night, is that the person we want looking back at us.

I highly recommend this book to everyone. Let us offer a little mercy, understanding and forgiveness to all those we come in contact with.

As a side note to the massacre’s check out Glenn Beck‘s comments and how and when I learned of the incident. http://www.glennbeck.com/2012/07/20/twelve-dead-at-midnight-screening-of-new-batman-movie/

I really liked it! I know that many didn’t like this series due to the lightness of it. But honestly, I liked it because of that. It was easier to follow that a lot of the other fantasy I have read and understood it much better. I really like the detail that he goes into. The parallel stories, the plot, the climax, the character sketches, all done very well! Highly recommend. :) Oh I’m still amazed at how young he was when he wrote these!

Well Shoot and Damn – It was cute. I think I liked book one better – that one has stuck in my head for months! I was disappointed that not more of the original characters had been included, but I really liked Gabe & Lilian as well. I thought that the plot and characters were better defined in book one. My favorite line is still “Well Shoot and Damn”. I just laugh each time. I will still read book three, just to finish the series. But I just wasn’t as engaged as I was in book one.

Maybe I was the only one..? Other than that great. I’m not sure how I feel about the crazy twist at the end… I have VERY mixed feelings on this one… anxious to see how that plays out in Six… I also liked that Grandma was more of an active character again. I wish that there was more of the details of Stephanie and Morelli when they are on ‘good terms’.. :)

Personal & Emergency Preparedness

I am not sure if I have ever mentioned that I work as a Business Continuity Consultant for Zions Bancorporation or not. We have created a new website and doing a lot more to be involved and in the minds of the Zions Community.

In our outreach program we are doing a testimonial submission contest the top three testimonials will receive notoriety as well as a “Zombie Task Force T-shirt” (part of their Zombie Preparedness Program) from the CDC that says, “Don’t be a Zombie – Be Prepared.” They are great! (Check out their Zombie Novela it’s really good!)

Before we roll this out each member of our department is writing up a testimonial of how being prepared has benefitted their lives. I thought this was worthy enough to share! Besides, my tag line is just an ordinary girl with extraordinary adventures… here some of them come!

Personal Preparedness

by Jen Jenson-Valente

I am one of the luckiest people to have had such an adventurous life! My father worked for the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) while I was growing up (and still does). Part of the life of a BLM family is getting to move all over the country every year or two (sometimes more frequently), to remote wilderness areas (I attended 11 different schools by the time I graduated from high school). This put our family in many interesting situations for grand experiences that most people can’t even imagine.

I have been in multiple earthquakes, tornados, fires, flooding, landslides, monsoons, wild fires, mid-sized dust storms, wind storms, blackouts, ice storms, and extreme snow storms. I’ve fallen off cliffs and lived through a bomb scare.  I’ve had biking and rafting/kayaking accidents I’ve been held hostage, witnessed shootings and actions of the KKK, and even had someone attempt to kill me.   I’ve been stranded in elevators, dealt with drug busts, rape and murder at a residential building I managed.  I’ve been stranded in the desert and other random places, had medical emergencies that were 200 miles from the nearest doctor.  The only large natural disasters I haven’t experienced are volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, title waves and hurricanes, thank Heaven!

Our most recent adventure was last December. I was living in Bountiful, Utah, where part of the South Davis County range was hit hard with a terrible windstorm, creating havoc and damage in its wake. Certain areas of Bountiful, North Salt Lake, West Bountiful, Centerville, Farmington, and other locations were hit extremely hard. The wind took down trees, roofs, fences, sheds, and signs. It even flipped fully loaded semi-trucks! We, as a family, lost 22 200-foot trees, eight fences, four roofs, and damage to vehicles, awnings, 30 feet of a 9-foot retaining wall, and a chicken coop. Our home actually made national news! Due to severe damage, the entire area lost electricity in the bitter cold December days.

I woke up that first morning to the howling wind and debris slamming against my windows. When I looked outside, it I felt as though I was in yet another tornado. I knew that if I drove my Ford Explorer to work, I would never make it due to the instability of my vehicle in turbulent winds. I attempted to call out of my home (using both my mobile & home Voice over IP phone) and send text messages to warn others – to no avail.  With no way to communicate with the outside world, I wondered what was happening elsewhere – and especially at the banks! I work in the Disaster Recovery Department of Zions Bancorporation.  “I have to get there!” I told myself.

Once the wind died down after several hours, I was finally able to leave my home and felt that it was safe enough to drive again. Skirting debris on the road, I stopped by our family meeting/message area, but there was no notification as of yet – only more damage. I left a note for those that might be following me. I then drove up the mountain to my grandparent’s home.   Shock, horror, and fear ripped through me as I viewed the entrance to my grandparent’s driveway. There were 3 huge trees blocking the driveway and view of their home. I climbed through the tree branches and debris, fighting my way down to my grandparents. How relieved I was to see that not one tree had fallen on their home! Once I was able to get inside, I found my 84-year-old grandmother, terrified and crying, wrapped in a ball under a table. She had been so scared by the falling trees that she thought she was back in England in another air raid during WWII. I slowly convinced her that she was safe again, that the damage was done, and we were going to be alright. My grandfather found me at that point. The three of us then went to evaluate the damage. “All my beautiful trees are gone!” my grandfather exclaimed, with tears trickling down his face. While we suffered from thousands of dollars of damage, we were one of the lucky families, because we have always planned ahead. We had a ham radio to communicate with others, plenty of food storage, and ways to cook it with the alternate cooking sources (propane barbecues, stoves, and a solar oven).

As I mentioned before, the power had been knocked out countywide, and it took days to get it fully back on. Some areas were out for over a week! We were lucky that we had a back-up generator, even though it had not been permanently installed.  We were able to hook the generator up to the main house heating system. Other people were left out in the harsh December elements, leaving their homes dark and cold for days. Every hotel room nearby was occupied.  Restaurants and grocery stores were also without power.

I learned early on that these calamities are simply part of life.  Emergency preparedness is also be a part of life. How grateful I am for the lessons I’ve learned! I am also grateful that we, as a family, have always known exactly what to do in case of emergencies, such as where to go, what to do, and knowing that – no matter what happens – we are resilient enough to survive. How grateful I am that we, as a family, have always made emergency preparedness part of our everyday lives, and that every family member is included, trained and rehearsed.  I’m thankful that we have practiced for such resiliency together!

While I was trying to figure out what to right I did some brainstorming. I thought these were great ideas that might be useful to others, enjoy!

Emergency & Personal Preparedness Brainstorm

To be prepared is half the victory.  – Miguel De Cervantes

I know that when disaster strikes or calamities show their face in my life that I have a plan and back up to ensure the safety of myself, my family and the people around me.

I come from a family that is really big on Emergency Preparedness. For this, I am grateful since I was a little girl, I have always known what the action plans were and where to check for updates in cases of emergencies, In addition they have helped me be more aware of disasters or situations that might occur. We also grew up with learning how to develop a one-year food storage, how to appropriately store and rotate thru our daily living as well. They were also very big in teaching us wilderness survival as well. As a single adult, I have adapted these lessons to be applicable to me. I have utilized the lessons they taught and random documentation that I have received thru the years to build up my food storage supplies in tandem with my wilderness survival. I know that in the case of an emergency I go to my Uncle’s home, which is the epicenter of our family and where there have been extra measures taken to ensure the safety and long-term well-being of our family unit. While living back east (nearly 3,000 miles away from my family) I knew I needed to do all I could to ensure of my survival in the case of an emergency for myself. Truly realizing what works best for me to always be prepared.

Some ways I have helped myself be prepared:

Automotive Emergency Kits

  •  Road Side Emergency (Things for my vehicle, mini cones, shovels, jumper cables, etc.)
  • 72 Hour Food Kits for each seat in my vehicle (you never know who might be with you – and frankly I would be one to share, I wouldn’t be able to not share to help us all survive.)
  • Emergency Preparedness Kit for 2 people (Sunscreen, Medication, First Aid Kit, Matches, etc.)
  • Water
  • Blankets, Jacket, Tennis Shoes, Sunscreen, Extra clothes,
  • Baseball, Bat, and 2 mitts, Couple Deck of Cards. (These might help you keep your sanity if stranded. They also serve multiple services such as the bat could be a weapon if need be and the deck of cards could help you start a fire.)
  • I am lucky enough to have a large cargo area in addition to many ‘cubby holes’ that have a lot of extra hidden storage, I utilize ever cranny I can find.

Wilderness Survival Kit

  • I enjoy camping I always have so while I was building my camping gear kit I realized this would be another great dual action collection! Thus, I built my camping/wilderness survival kit as easy to gather as possible (although wheels might be a good addition).
  • I built my kit into a large tote, and have my tent and sleeping bag in another easy to grab and tow bag (with wheels). In the case of an emergency I simply grab these two items that are packed to the hilt with everything I could find for camping/wilderness, and I don’t have to scramble threw the entire home for the items I need, in addition to an extensive first aid kit. At this point, my contingency plan is to grab them, throw them in the back of my truck, and go to safer ground, if I must vacate.

Home Survival

  • At home I do have an additional extensive first aid kit, in addition to 72 hour kits for all occupants of my home (I always include all roommates, and housemates depending on how large of place and how many other residents. My reasoning is the same as the vehicle… I can’t watch these people be in need and I not share.
  • I also have been building up my year’s supply of food storage just a little extra every time I go shopping (1 or 2 extra items each time and buying in bulk). I make it a point to also get other non-food essentials such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, shampoo/conditioner, body wash, laundry detergent, deodorant, contacts, etc.

Ways I have already benefited from my preparedness:

  • The number one benefit I have gained from being prepared has been in-between employment when I either have been low on funds, or ran out completely. I was able to use my food storage and not go hungry!
  • I first learned the true value of being prepared while living in both Eastern Colorado and Western Kansas, where we would have at least a tornado a week, during tornado season. Each time that this would happen, we would lose all power & gas. It wasn’t uncommon that it would be followed by flooding and due to the small size of the community; we’d be down for days. These turned into some of my favorite times because of the quality time with our mom in the basement safe from the danger. We never went hungry or had to spend too much time in the dark because of my parents’ proactiveness of having food storage, ways to prepare it and a stockpile of candles and matches.
  • In my old home in Pennsylvania, which was on an old county road in the middle of the forest, I would regularly loose my electricity, due to wind, branches, snow, etc.  This would also terminate use of my stove, oven and the oil furnace that heated our home and water, not to mention that the electric would also power our water-well pumping it into the house and of course lights, etc. We were always ok because I had my grill to cook on with extra propane; I could also heat water when needed. We always had a surplus of candles as well which would give us light to see by and games to play so we didn’t go stir crazy. I also had a stockpile of dried wood for the fireplace so that we had heat, which was always good when we’d be snowed in for a week at a time. My tenants/roommates would always tell me how they thought I was crazy until we lost power for the first time when they were in the dark with no water or heat until I pulled out my supplies and forward thinking.

Ways this has impacted my attitude when emergencies arise in the workplace:

  • I know that when disaster strikes or calamities show their face in my life that I have a plan and back up to ensure the safety of myself, my family and the people around me. I have had many occasions in my personal life or work life where disaster has struck and have had the opportunity to either step in and take control of a situation or panic with everyone else. I have found because of my life long learning of being prepared the my mind becomes vividly clear and I am able to absorb the situation and possible recovery strategies.
  • For instance, while working as a Property Manger in North Philadelphia with 1,207 residents and 18 commercial units there was always something new happening. Forcing me to be on my toes at all times, especially in a new building. One of my first days in the new position after being left alone for the first time; our concierge service received a package that was ticking, and the Community Assistant that was managing the service at the time was starting to panic. I quickly took matters into my own hands, knowing the franchise standards on the matter and action plans. I immediately examined the package carefully myself, notified the Temple Police and all Security within my building, in addition to the building owners and my regional manager. Within moments the full evacuation started and officials were on site with a full SWAT team for our potential bomb. We managed to handle our first of many evacuations with ease and maintaining a control of panic of the crowd that had just been evacuated while the SWAT Team properly handled and disposed of the package. If I had not been trained and known what to do in the case of emergencies this situation could have easily gotten out of hand, or escalated to a riot or many deaths due to the bomb.

List of Diasters I have Experienced

I thought this was also rather fun. I compiled a list of all the disasters I have experienced, natural disasters, personal disasters, etc. At the bottom I have a list of a few other crazy things that my immediate (or ex-immediate) family (and one close friend) has been through. I find it really fascinating, I never really thought much of any of this until I was told that most of my department at work hasn’t been in any natural disasters or major experiences. Thus, I just had to make a list.

Review: One For The Money

One For The Money
One For The Money by Janet Evanovich
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Just finished book 3 of the Stephanie Plum Series… I was hesitant at writing a review on this one at first simply because I didn’t know what to think. I liked the plot, story, heroine, all character sketches were great. What I didn’t like or expect was the extreme change of feel from Janet’s other books. Nonetheless I still liked it. I really like Stephanie I think she is funny. I was grateful to be able to move immediately on to the 2nd & 3rd books. I definitly enjoy the slower pace and the big picture story, and I love her characters. I have read most of her previous screwball romances… They were fun light hearted, encouraging and witty. Stephanie Plum has a VERY different feel about the whole thing! I thought it was just book 1, nope. I like it. I was surprise and disappointed by the additional swearing and details of certain things. Totally took me for a shock that its not as clean as all of her others. I like it, just not as much. I really like her character sketches and the flow as always. I enjoy that Janet has kept the screwball and funniness of her characters and story line. I just haven’t care for the new edge it has. I’m from Philly, I know Trenton isn’t an easy town… but I think there are a few details that could have gone without in this and the last book such as there was a mess on a her door once and a few other things…However, this movie is coming out this Friday I would love to go see it. Would anyone like to come with me? In the Greater Salt Lake area. 16 Jan 2012

Ok, I just saw the movie. Honestly I loved it! :) I was glad to see that they took out the scene where the boxer/fighter guy (forgot his name) desecration her door. I was REALLY happy to see that unnecessary scene gone. Although they should have put something else that he had threatened her at home. That would have made a little more sense too when Morelli caught her later.. But overall I think they did a great job and reignited my Plum fire… I need to go to the library and get #4 since its not available on Overdrive… :) 17 June 2012
