Review: The Fellowship of the Ring

The Fellowship of the Ring
The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I just barely read this one… I know, years behind… When the movie came out, I went to it and was so confused I fell asleep… and frankly didn’t care enough to try to watch it again. A decade or so later I decided I should at least give it a chance and read the series and I’ll probably enjoy it and the movies. However I must say that I have never been a huge ‘fantasy’ fan, and after reading this – I’m still not. It was ok, didn’t feel that it really explained things well and jumped a lot. I honestly have no idea what all the fuss was about. I’ll finish the series for one reason only – to say that I have read them and have my own opinion about them. If you are into fantasy you might like it.

  1. Thank you! I have tried to read this one a couple times now and just can NOT get into it! I keep trying because I have yet to find someone who didn’t like it. . . but now I feel justified to just give it up- I did like the movies though 🙂

  2. Yeah… its way over rated. I think so many people say they love it simply because everyone else does. 😐 It was boring, un-engaging… not to mention hard to stay interested in or be able to follow well. Glad to hear I’m not alone too! 🙂
